  • Professor Emeritus of Oral Biology and Endodontology at the Tel Aviv University, Israel
  • 1971 Graduate of the Dental Medicine graduate program at the Hebrew University,
    Jerusalem, Israel – received his DMD degree.
  • 1973 – Faculty member at the Tel Aviv University School of Dental Medicine
  • 1980 – Board-certified Specialist in Endodontics, Israel
  • 1978 - 1981 Post-graduate studies, National Institute of Health (NIH), Maryland, USA
  • 1987 – 1988 President of the Israeli Division of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR)
  • 1987 – 1991 Dean, Goldschleger School of Dental Medicine, Tel Aviv University
  • 1993 - Examiner for the Israeli board of Endodontics at the Scientific Council of the Israeli Dental Association
  • 1995 – 1996 Visiting Professor, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA
  • 2000 – 2002 Chairman of the Israeli Endodontic Society
  • 2003 recipient of the Honorary Achievement Award of the Israel Dental Association
  • Prof. Metzger served several terms as the head of the Endodontics Dept. at Tel Aviv University, as well as head of the dental research laboratories.
  • He is a member of the American Association of Endodontics (AAE), the European Society of Endodontology (ESE) and the Israeli Endodontic society. He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics, and a board member and reviewer for several other leading journals.
  • He participated in the development of several innovative products in the field of endodontics, notably the Self-Adjusting File (SAF) System and APEXUM.
  • Prof. Metzger published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, as well as chapters in textbooks in endodontics. He retains a private clinic dedicated to endodontics in Tel Aviv, Israel.
