Dr Roland Glauser received his dental degree from the University of Zurich in Switzerland and served as assistant professor in the department of fixed prosthodontics and dental materials from 1997 to 2006. Currently, Dr Glauser runs a private clinic in Zurich and holds an appointment as clinical associate professor at the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University in the US. He was president of the scientific board of the Schweizerische Gesellschaft für orale Implantologie (Swiss society of oral implantology) and is an active member of the Academy of Osseointegration and the European Association for Osseointegration. His research focuses on tissue integration of oral implants and clinical protocols. Dr Glauser has published landmark studies in the early 2000s on early healing on moderately rough titanium implants, which became the basis for the immediate function concept.
